PANELISTS
ERICA BEAL (MODERATOR)
Erica holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of La Verne, Bachelors of Business from Baylor University, and a graduate of LEAD San Diego Embark Leadership Program. She has 17+ years with California utility experience in project management, supply chain, energy efficiency, auditing, and supplier diversity.
Today, Erica is the founder and CEO of AVIVV. She has an entrepreneurial spirit, practices servant leadership, and a catalyst for change. As a military spouse, Erica connects deeply with the veteran community and has created a program “Impact Now” to hire transitioning veterans, veteran spouses, and family members into the energy and utility industry.
DR. TERNOT MACRENATO, PHD
Dr. MacRenato is a retired Professor of History and Government and throughout his career taught at San Diego State University, San Diego Community College District, Mesa College, Grossmont College and Southwestern College. Prior to his teaching career, he served in Vietnam with the U.S. Marine Corps, Third Force Reconnaissance Company from 1960-1967. Dr. MacRenato also maintains an active involvement in community and civic organizations serving as a member of the Chula Vista Police Department Community Advisory Committee.
LT. COL ALEX MARTIN
Prior to founding Clearspeed, Alex served in the U.S. Marine Corps leading infantry, reconnaissance and special operations units over 4 operational deployments. Upon leaving active duty, he founded a private maritime security company based in Muscat, Oman, and later lived and worked in rural Kenya for two years as the Team Leader for NuruInternational, a social enterprise dedicated to ending extreme poverty.
DR. YVETTE BRANSON, PHD
VITAL INITIATIVE

New York Harbor Department of Veterans Affairs
Dr. Branson received her PhD in Clinical Health Psychology in 2006. Previously, she worked for 10 years in education as a learning specialist for students who were troubled or had learning differences. At the New York Harbor Department of Veterans Affairs, she coordinates the VITAL Initiative (Veteran Integration to Academic Leadership), an innovative program for college student veterans working to overcome the pain of war and the stress of readjustment.
